Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva DOCG
Montetondo
pure elegance on the palate

In the hills of soave the vine-grower, gino magnabosco, together with his family, carry on this very passion that traditions have handed down. Intense scent, dry taste and fresh are characteristics of monte tondo’s wines that are difficult to forget. Magnabosco family is attentive to any new improvement in grape-producing technology of soave and valpolicella, in order to guarantee wine of the best quality at all times to represent the area in which it is produced.

32 hectares of vineyards are situated on the best plots that the soave zone can offer: Monte Tenda, Monte Foscarino and Monte Tondo, from which the vineyard takes its name, ensure that the wine produced has an intense perfume, a bouquet ranging from floral to fruity with an unmistakeable flavour. A witness of that bond which the holiday farmhouse has knitted between her soave white wines and the history of these hills.

Most people know that Amarone is a special wine but far fewer know that Amarone Riserva is even more so. The Monte Tondo Amarone Riserva is so special they even put a velvet label on it – no joke.

Forest fruits, prunes, stewed black berries, leather, coffee, tar, vanilla, earth, leather, mushrooms, the lot. This is one of those wines for which the tasting note could go on and on and on. Tuck into this on a Saturday night after dinner with some mature cheese and thank us later. A true delight and one of the wine world’s pinnacles of production, this Amarone Riserva is a contemplative wine to be opened and enjoyed slowly with some great company and strong cheese. Keeping this wine youthful and ever-more enjoyable is a soaring acidity that will see it remain drinkable for years to come.

The title Amarone Riserva means that this wine has had an extra year of ageing in barrel compared to an Amarone. Only the very best grapes can stand up to this extra ageing and still express themselves clearly in the glass. Monte Tondo selects their tip top Corvina and Rondinella grapes from across their vineyards for this wine and, as with all Italian Amarone, the grapes are dried out for at least three months before fermentation. This concentration of sugars makes Amarone wines some of the most powerful around, with deep, dried fruit characteristics, accompanied by savoury and spicy notes from the prolonged ageing time.

The Amarone Riserva from Monte Tondo is made sustainably using organically grown grapes.

The wine is then aged in a 30 hl slavonian wood barrel, for 60 months after bottling it remains aging for at least 6 months before being released for consumption.
