Vision and Mission – Preserve and develop
The passion that feeds Tenuta San Guido has grown under the guidance of a lucky star which encompasses centuries of history. Tradition and culture are the roots of our brand.
A Recognised Commitment – An ecosystem founded on the balance between man and nature
Tenuta San Guido is the result of a very long tradition and of an ethical message handed down from generation to generation. Over the years, the dedication and commitment to the company’s activities have led to many successes: Sassicaia, in the wine sector, the Razza Dormello Olgiata, in the breeding of thoroughbred horses and the Rifugio Faunistico Padule di Bolgheri, for the protection of nature and wildlife.
The privilage of being able to select grapes
In a property that stretches over 2,500 hectares, we have chosen to select and plant vineyards exclusively on the most suitable lands, covering just a small area of the total surface. An area that is unique in terms of soil type, microclimate, and exposure that deserves its own appellation: DOC Bolgheri Sassicaia.

A wine form the rocks
Originally reserved for family and friends until 1967, Sassicaia was released on the market for the first time in 1971 with the 1968 vintage. To this day, the winemaking team remains committed to preserving the stylistic imprint that inspired the creation of this wine.
Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc are cultivated in estate-owned plots located in Castiglioncello, Aia Nuova, Cerreta, Sassicaia di Sopra, and San Martino. These parcels feature diverse and complex morphological characteristics, including calcareous soils rich in marl, as well as stones and pebbles—from which the wine takes its name—and areas of partial clay. The vineyards lie at altitudes ranging from 100 to 360 metres above sea level.
Tasting Notes
“Abundant aromas of redcurrant, cedar, iron and terracotta follow through to a medium to full body with graphite, sandalwood, redcurrant and fresh Mediterranean herbs such as thyme and rosemary. The tannins are chewy but with a polished texture. This Sassicaia needs three or four years of bottle ageing to unify and soften. A structured wine for the cellar.” James Suckling
