Cavalier Pepe

In the heart of Irpinia

Tenuta Cavalier Pepe is a family-run winery. It rises in Irpinia, in the heart of one of the most fertile wine regions of Italy. The company follows ancient winemaking traditions, with the firm belief that the secret of a good wine lies in the vineyard and in the splendid area in which it is immersed.

The Tenuta Cavalier Pepe is managed by bold, courageous people, capable of putting themselves on the line and opening up to new horizons. All this in respect of tradition that blends with a concept of modernity, but which merges above all with the most total respect for the environment. “Behind every successful venture is someone who has made a courageous decision.”

The Loggia del Cavaliere is a wine with a strong personality and complex structure. This Reserve is a clear corporate expression of pure Aglianico. A product strongly desired by the same Knight Angelo Pepe, faithful to the ancient traditions of Irpinian viticulture and the territory.

Deep ruby red with garnet reflections.

Aroma

Notes of ripe fruit, black cherry, blackberries, dried plum, with elegant hints of violet, antique rose, musk and leather. Nutmeg and toasted wood complete the bouquet together with a touch of licorice and aromatic herbs.

Full, enveloping, of great balance with silky tannins, and excellent very persistent and intense finish of berries and spices.

Winemaking

The healthiest grapes, left to ripen last, are harvested by hand in the first days of November, transported to the cellar and carefully selected before being destemmed The fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in small steel tanks and maceration on the skins for about a month with manual pumping over and punching down. It ages in barriques and large French oak barrels for 24 months, for another 24 months in cement tanks and finally for at least 18 months in bottle.

Food and wine pairings

It goes particularly well with all kinds of well-structured cuisine, with regional dishes based on meat and succulent sauces, game, stews, lamb and aged cheeses. Uncork and decant the bottle an hour before. Serve at a temperature of 18°C.
