Immerse yourself in the deep ruby red of Primitivo di Manduria DOP Papale Oro, an exquisite creation from the renowned Varvaglione winery. This wine, originating from the sunny lands of Southern Italy, captures the essence of the ancient Primitivo vines that thrive in the Manduria region. With an alcohol content around 14%, this wine expresses extraordinary complexity and perfect balance.
Manduria is considered to be the modern-day home of Primitivo, particularly in Italy, where it is the primary focus.
The Manduria appellation, which is not very large, runs from the coastal town of Taranto for about 40 kms inland. The climate here is very hot and dry. The vineyards in Manduria are ancient and share the land with olive groves, which is another thing that this part of Italy is well known for.
Traditionally, this was a region where a lot of mass wine was produced for blending purposes and it was not seen as producing quality wine. This has definitely been changing in recent years, with more producers and winemakers really focusing on quality wine production and single varietal expressions of Primitivo.

An intense red colour. On the nose, Papale Oro offers a rich and intensely aromatic bouquet, with dominant notes of ripe red fruits, fruit jam, sweet spices, and a slight touch of vanilla, resulting from its aging in barrels. On the palate, the wine is round and smooth.
It reveals itself as robust and velvety, with a well-structured tannic texture that promises excellent aging potential. The flavours of plum, black cherry, and chocolate blend into a persistent and seductive finish.
This Primitivo di Manduria is ideal for accompanying hearty dishes such as meat roasts, game, and aged cheeses. Perfect for a special occasion, Papale Oro promises to deliver an unforgettable sensory experience to wine lovers seeking intensity and authenticity in their glass.
