Tenuta di Sesta – Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2016 – 14.5%vol

The Tenuta di Sesta is located in the southern part of the municipality of Montalcino, between Sant’Angelo in Colle and Castelnuovo dell’Abate, near the well-known Romanesque abbey of Sant’Antimo, on a slope facing south that goes downhill from 400 to 200 meters above sea level.

These lands are considered among the most suitable for the production of Brunello di Montalcino, given their particular position: in fact the vineyards are sheltered to the north from the cold winds of the north by the Poggio d’Arna and enjoy the warm Maremma currents thanks to the proximity of the mountain. Amiata which favors a mild microclimate. Thanks to its enchanting position in Sesta it is possible to enjoy the fruits of the earth well in advance of other areas.

The great wines of Montalcino are born from pure Sangiovese: Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, Brunello Riserva DOCG produced only in the best vintages and coming from the selection of the best Brunello grapes, and Rosso di Montalcino DOC. The two IGT red wines of the company are born from the union of the sangiovese grosso with other vines: the Camponovo, a young and fresh wine in which the sangiovese is combined with another typical vine of the Tuscan region, the colorino; the Poggio d’Arna with a more international taste in which the Sangiovese is enriched in color and perfume by Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

Sangiovese is received in Slavonian oak barrels, an ideal wood for long ageing thanks to a slow release of its aromas to the wine. The barrels used have an average capacity of 30 hl: the ratio of the surface of the wood to the volume of the wine is perfect for enhancing the typical character of this grape with discretion and elegance. Temperature and humidity are constantly controlled to ensure the correct evolution of the wine.

Brunello has always been a great wine, certainly important and very pleasant to drink: when young it is rich in hints of fruit and flowers; when ripe, it acquires complex ethereal characteristics, highlights a broad bouquet with sensations of undergrowth.

The 2016 vintage interpreted by the company is a demanding Brunello di Montalcino. 100% Sangiovese from a selection of the best grapes. It ages in Slavonian oak barrels for 36 months with a subsequent refinement of at least 6 months in the bottle. Ruby red colour tending to garnet with ageing. Intense, ample, fine, fruity (ripe red fruit) and spicy (tobacco and licorice) bouquet. Taste dry, warm, soft, velvety tannins, balanced, very intense and persistent, fine and full-bodied.

Classic wine for red meats, roasts, game and game. Suitable for Tuscan, Italian and international dishes; also excellent with cheeses.
